Kylian Mbappe becomes PSG’s all-time leading scorer
With his goal against Nantes in the 26th round of Ligue 1, striker Kylian Mbappe has become the all-time leading scorer for PSG, despite being only 24 years old.
Mbappe scored in the 92nd minute to help Paris Saint Germain (PSG) secure a 4-2 victory over Nantes, breaking Edinson Cavani’s record to become the team’s highest goal scorer in history. While it took Cavani 301 games to score 200 goals for PSG, Mbappe only needed 247 games to reach 201 goals.
Mbappe’s goal-scoring record for PSG is likely to increase significantly as the French striker has a contract with the Parisian team until June 2025. Immediately after the match, PSG held a celebration to honor Mbappe’s achievement and awarded him with a prize for setting the goal-scoring record.
Mbappe said: ‘In the last five minutes, I wasn’t putting any pressure on myself, I knew I would beat it and I didn’t want to force it. It’s great that the goal came at the end. Playing here is a privilege, I’ve improved as a player, I’ve changed a lot.
‘Playing at PSG is special for me. If you told me I would score with the captain’s armband on to break the record, I wouldn’t have believed it.’

‘It’s a personal achievement but I’m here for collective achievements. I’d like to thank my teammates, coaches, the management, and the supporters, who’ve given me everything here.
PSG’s next match will be the second leg of the Round of 16 in the Champions League against German giants Bayern Munich in the early morning of Thursday, March 9th.
Mbappe is expected to shine in order to secure a place in the quarter-finals after PSG lost 0-1 in the first leg due to a goal from former PSG player Kingsley Coman.
