Man City 3-1 Leicester – Erling Halland nets another double
Man City won 3-1 against Leicester in the 31st round of the Premier League, reducing the gap with Arsenal to just 3 points. Haaland scored a brace in this match.
Man City continued their impressive form as they easily defeated Leicester, who are struggling and in danger of relegation. All three of the home team’s goals were scored in the first half, while the away team’s consolation goal was scored in the second half.
Man City started strongly at home. In the 5th minute, Stones quickly shot from the edge of the penalty area, hitting the right post. The Leicester goalkeeper reacted slowly because he was blocked from his view and couldn’t save the shot.

Leicester’s efforts were rewarded with a goal that reduced the score to 1-3 by Iheanacho in the 75th minute. The Nigerian striker easily scored a close-range goal after Ederson blocked the away team’s shot. However, that was all that Leicester could do at Etihad.
With three more points, Man City rose to 70 points, just 3 points behind Arsenal. At 8:00 pm tonight, Arsenal will play their 31st round match at West Ham.
With a brace against Leicester, Erling Haaland reached 32 goals in the Premier League 2022/23 season. In the history of the Premier League with 38 rounds, only one player has achieved a similar feat, Mohamed Salah (32 goals in the 2017/18 season). With 8 matches in hand, Haaland has the chance to break this record.
Even Haaland could break the greatest record in Premier League history held by two predecessors, Andy Cole (34 goals in the 1993/94 season) and Alan Shearer (34 goals in the 1994/95 season). However, at that time, the Premier League had 22 teams and 42 rounds.
