PSG line up shock £50million move for Man Utd’s Maguire
The Sun newspaper revealed that PSG and Man Utd had an agreement on the table for the transfer of Harry Maguire during the winter transfer window. However, the deal did not complete before the window closed.
However, PSG has not given up on pursuing Maguire. They are ready to spend up to £50 million to sign the Man Utd captain in the summer transfer window of 2023. The English defender is seen as a replacement for Sergio Ramos, who is now 36 years old.
Furthermore, the wealthy French club is willing to meet Maguire’s current weekly wage of £200,000 that he receives at Man Utd.
This could be a way out for Maguire’s future. This season, the English defender has fallen out of favor at Old Trafford. He cannot compete with Varane and Lisandro Martinez in the central defense position. Maguire is even behind Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw in the selection of coach Ten Hag.
Since the start of the season, Maguire has only played 10 Premier League matches. In the last eight games, he only started in one game in this competition.
According to some sources, Man Utd is willing to meet PSG’s transfer demands if they receive a formal offer. The club previously spent up to £80 million to sign Maguire in 2019, but the player has yet to prove himself at Old Trafford.
The price of £50 million is considered high compared to Maguire’s current value. Currently, the English player is valued at less than £30 million (according to Transfermarkt).
PSG was recently eliminated from the Champions League after losing to Bayern Munich. They will undoubtedly be actively looking to make purchases in the summer transfer window of 2023 to prepare for their revenge plan for the upcoming season.
